Crude Energy Beverages Inc., a North American beverage company that brands itself as the drink of choice for the working class, is set to introduce its product lineup to retailers at the ECRM Vitamin, Weight Management & Sports Nutrition Session, taking place September 14-17 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The company hopes to leverage this platform to broaden its U.S. retail footprint and connect with a demographic it says is underserved by the beverage industry.
Founded on the ethos of hard work, Crude Energy was created for the men and women in oil and gas, construction, trucking, farming, welding, mechanics, and other skilled trades. The brand’s president, Cory Yeik, emphasized the company’s connection to these workers: “We built Crude for the people putting in long shifts, getting their hands dirty and getting the job done every day. These are our people. We understand the work, we understand the lifestyle, and we wanted to build a beverage brand that actually speaks to them.”
The origins of Crude Energy trace back to 2012 with the launch of Rig Pig Apparel, a clothing and personal protective equipment company for the oil and gas industry. The strong response to that venture inspired the founders to develop a beverage line that resonated with the same community. Formulations began in 2019, but the company’s initial U.S. market entry was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, the founders continued to refine their products and expanded into Crude Brew Coffee.
Today, Crude Energy’s portfolio includes energy drinks in bold flavors like Fossil Fuel, Heavy Crude, and Overtime Blues, as well as flavored teas and Crude Brew Coffee. The coffee is made from Honduran beans sourced from a cooperative of 72 farmers and is available in Dark Roast, Medium Roast, and a Black Gold variety. CEO Kimberley Johnson sees the company’s participation at ECRM as a key step toward reaching more consumers. “The working class is a huge part of this country, but you don’t see many beverage brands built specifically around them,” she stated. “Crude Energy is. Whether you’re on a rig, behind the wheel of a truck, working a construction site or putting in hours on a farm, we want you to look at a can of Crude and know exactly who it’s for.”
The company’s brand message is distilled into a simple question: “What Fuels You?” At ECRM, Crude Energy will hold scheduled meetings with buyers from major health, specialty, food, drug, and mass retail channels. This comes as the beverage industry increasingly sees niche marketing as a way to stand out in a crowded market. By focusing on a demographic that often feels ignored by mainstream advertising, Crude Energy is positioning itself as a brand that understands and celebrates the people who keep the economy running.
The importance of this move lies in the potential to fill a gap in the market. While many energy drinks target athletes or young professionals, few explicitly cater to blue-collar workers. Crude Energy’s success could signal a shift in how beverage companies approach this sizable consumer base. As the company expands its retail presence, it remains to be seen whether its message will resonate beyond its core audience.
