SS Innovations International (NASDAQ: SSII) has performed more than 15,000 procedures using its SSi Mantra robotic surgical systems, including approximately 750 cardiac procedures, CEO Dr. Sudhir Srivastava said in a recent interview with The Motley Fool. The disclosure, along with more than 200 telesurgeries (27 of them cardiac), underscores how the company is moving beyond early adoption toward broader clinical use and international expansion.
The procedure count matters because robotic surgery remains dominated by a handful of entrenched systems. SS Innovations is betting that a modular design supporting up to five robotic arms, 4K 3D visualization, and surgeon-controlled anatomical imaging can differentiate its platform in operating rooms where cost and flexibility are persistent concerns. According to the interview, that combination of clinical experience and affordability is central to the company’s commercial pitch.
Telesurgery may prove the more consequential signal. More than 200 remote procedures suggest the SSi Mantra is being tested as a way to extend specialist surgical expertise to underserved communities, a use case with implications for rural hospitals and regions that struggle to recruit specialized surgeons. Cardiac telesurgeries, though a small subset, indicate the platform is being applied to high-complexity cases rather than routine procedures alone.
The company is also preparing to expand its Indian manufacturing capacity through a planned 10-acre facility, with the objective of bringing additional production capabilities in-house. That move could support both domestic deployment and export ambitions, while regulatory applications in Europe and the United States are progressing. Management is targeting international expansion through direct sales and opportunities in ambulatory surgery centers, a segment where lower-cost robotic options may find traction.
Financially, the company reported first-half 2026 revenue of about $25 million, up roughly 66% year-over-year. The growth rate, if sustained, would give SS Innovations a stronger base from which to fund regulatory clearances and manufacturing scale-up. For the surgical robotics sector, the numbers point to a market that may be widening beyond flagship hospital systems. If SS Innovations can convert its procedure volume into regulatory approvals in Europe and the United States, and if its planned manufacturing facility comes online as intended, the company could become a more credible challenger in a field where price and access are increasingly part of the purchasing decision.
